Skinny Post
Route10-18 ydaka Glance
Vertical 10 yards then a SHALLOW inside break (~70° above horizontal — much closer to vertical than a true 45° post). Beats Cover 3 between the corner and the deep middle safety. Common as the pass option in inside-zone RPOs.
Demo rendered on @X (outside WR) at 14yd depth. Only the route runner and the QB are shown so the break stays the focus; the same route family scales to any depth a play calls for, and concepts that use this route may set a different depth.
How to run it
shallow inside angle — fit between safety and corner.
Reading it by coverage
How to run the skinny post against what the defense shows.
- Cover 1:
- vs single-high — bend under the free safety, splitting him from the post-safety corner.
- Cover 2:
- split the two safeties down the middle — into the deep void between the halves.
- Cover 3:
- the money read — bend between the deep-third corner and the middle-third safety.
- Cover 4:
- attack the inside shoulder of the quarters safety — bend into the seam void.
- Man:
- sell vertical and bend inside a hair — the near-vertical stem is hard to cover.
