In
Route6-10 yd
Vertical 8 yards then a SHARP 90° break to the inside (toward the QB / middle of the field). Shallower than a Dig — sits in front of the LBs / under the safeties. Common quick-game intermediate vs zone.
Demo rendered on @X (outside WR) at 8yd depth. Only the route runner and the QB are shown so the break stays the focus; the same route family scales to any depth a play calls for, and concepts that use this route may set a different depth.
How to run it
drive vertical then break flat across the LBs.
Reading it by coverage
How to run the in against what the defense shows.
- Cover 1:
- vs man — sell vertical, snap flat inside; the ball beats the driving defender at the break.
- Cover 2:
- sit in front of the two safeties and behind the underneath defenders — face the QB.
- Cover 3:
- settle in the hole between the hook defenders — under the middle, over the underneath.
- Cover 4:
- work in front of the safety carry — sit at 8-10 in the void the quarters defenders vacate.
- Man:
- sharp inside break — beat his leverage, catch and turn upfield.
